No, the Chicago Cubs didn't swing by Pierce County, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER
(SOSA) did. It was apparently the only one left of the five seen yesterday by
Charlie Wright and Carol Schulz at the mitigated wetland on 96th St. E. There
were also about 20 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1 WESTERN SANDPIPER, 1 male CINNAMON TEAL
and lots of swallows and Mallards.

The wetland is just past the river crossing, on the left. Alderton is a blip
of a town on Valley Ave/Hwy 162(?), just south of Sumner. Take a left onto
96th and watch for the wetlands just after the river crossing. They are posted
no tresspassing, but you can see at least a part of the muck where the
shorebirds were, by looking from the shoulder of the road, past the gate in
the fence, where there is a culvert going under the road. This is where the
shorebirds were.
