Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Carnation Marsh photographing the pair of
osprey. I got some really cool digiscoped photos and also shot some film
with my new used Nikon with a Sigma 400mm with a doubler. I will post some
comparison shots between the two methods once I get my 35mm film developed.
I also happened to get sight of a pileated woodpecker as well as numerous
frogs.

>From the marsh, I picked Dee up at work and we spent some time photographing
the Herons on their nests at the rookery in Kenmore. I shot both 35mm and
digiscoped some shots. I got one of my favorite heron pictures yesterday
when I digiscoped. I will let you know once they are ready to be posted.

Today, we got off to a late start but headed up to the Skagit. Our
highlights included:

Bayview Shore Trail
Killdeer performing broken wing act

March Point
1 Great Egret at March Point near the rookery viewed from the pullout past
the trees.
At least 100 Great Blue Heron in the same area
3 Adult Bald Eagles

We headed to Whidbey but the parks were jammed and only stopped to bird at
Cornet Bay where we found another Bald Eagle, red-breasted merganser, pigeon
guillemot (3).

We returned via the Skagit to

3 Bunnies

All in all we spotted around 12 Red-tailed Hawks. Numerous swallows and
savannah sparrows.

Tomorrow I am taking a vacation day to head to Capitol Forest with Bob
Sundstrom on his Mercer Island trip with the target species being Mountain
Quail...It would be a lifer for me...I'll report if we find them.
