GREAT EGRETS have been seen by Jeremy Shreve and Katie Crowley on the
island in North Richland across from the Battelle complex near the Port of
Benton. One was there on May 1 and 4, and 3 were there on May 5.

Ruth and Larry Fischer had a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at their Richland
feeder on May 3.

Dennis Johnson reported a NORTHERN BOBWHITE in his Richland neighborhood
near Duportail and Hartford Streets on May 4. Although fun to see,
Bobwhites are not considered to be wild birds in our area.

Jack and Murrel Dawson reported the return of a FERRUGINOUS HAWK to the
Kiona Hills above their Benton City home on May 5.

Two Rivers Park in Kennewick has had several migrants. On May 5, Nancy
LaFramboise and Bev Weisbrodt saw a SPOTTED SANDPIPER. On May 6, Nancy
found a singing TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and a PINE SISKIN. On May 6, Nancy and
Chris Simonen had a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD and a male WESTERN TANAGER.

Bob Woodley reported a male WESTERN TANAGER and a male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE in
Groves Park in Richland on May 7 and a pair of WESTERN KINGBIRDS there on
May 8. Also on May 8, he found a pair of SWAINSON'S HAWKS and an
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER in Johnson Park. In his Richland yard he had a
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and 2 EVENING GROSBEAKS.

Ruth Fischer reported the return of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES to her Richland yard
on May 8.

On May 11, Bill and Nancy LaFramboise found the following highlights at
Horn Rapids County Park: many YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, 2 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS, 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER, 1 WARBLING VIREO, 1 LARK and 5 CHIPPING
SPARROWS, and 1 female RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER.
