On Tuesday I saw my first Western Tanager of the year in the pine trees along
the south edge of Gerberding Hall, where the parking lot is. I heard it first
and couldn't figure out what it was, and managed to locate it a few minutes
later. It flew towards the middle of campus shortly after that. For the nth
time, I swore I would never again leave my office without my binoculars...
