I spent an hour and a half this afternoon (4:30 to 6:00) searching for the
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher found by Rob Conway in Grant County this morning,
but was unable to relocate it. The wind was howling at about 30 miles per
hour, so it could be there and just hunkered down in the trees. However,
this species is not afraid of windy weather so may have remained active if
still present or it may already moved on. I think the only other record of
this species in WA was never relocated after the initial sighting. (Someone
please give us the details on the bird that appeared in the late 1970's.)

I wasn't completely skunked however. There was a Lewis's Woodpecker
clinging to a utility pole on the west side of Adams Road 0.5 miles north of
Rd 2 NW. This is an uncommon species for the central basin area.

On the way home there was a Peregrine Falcon soaring above swallows and
White-throated Swifts south of Sentinel Rock north of Mattawa.
