At the Yakima Delta on May 12, Bob Woodley found 1 GREAT EGRET, 20 AMERICAN
AVOCETS, and 4 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS. At the Acme Concrete Plant in Richland
he observed 1 BLACK-NECKED STILT and 2 avocets, and a variety of ducks. At
his Richland home that evening, he observed a male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD.

At Horn Rapids County Park on May 13, Nancy LaFramboise and Bob Woodley
noted the following migrants: both RUBY-CROWNED and GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS, 2 WARBLING VIREOS, many YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, several
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, as well as NASHVILLE, TOWNSEND'S, and YELLOW
WARBLERS and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT. There were also 2 WESTERN TANAGERS, a
LAZULI BUNTING and a CHIPPING SPARROW there. The following day was quite
windy, but 2 LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS were seen by Bob, Nancy and Ruth Fischer.

Mary Lilga reported a VARIED THRUSH in her North Richland yard on May 13.

Patty Pollari noted the first returning BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD to her
West Richland yard on May 13. That same day, a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was
reported from Rancho Reata in Kennewick by Laura Sirrockman.

A little distant but certainly noteworthy was a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER
reported by Rob Conway at milepost 4 on Route 283 between George and
Ephrata. The bird has not been relocated as of this update.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
