Today I did a bit of urban birding, and kept hearing a weird, wheezy sound
in a small grove of trees and brush. Went to investigate, only to discover
it was a Bewick's Wren skulking on the ground with its tail held straight
up. Another BEWE was close by and approached the first bird but took off
when it saw me. Am wondering if the wheezy call sound and tail thing was
copulation solicitation? Anybody know? A cursory Internet search came up
w/nothing.

TIA,
