I have been thinking about revising and recreating Earl Larrisons small
booklet called the natural history of wenas which is long out of print.
Since I just finished handing off my latest writing project to edit, ( A
revision to A field guide to the Olympics and Cascades) I am eager to find
another project and this sounds like a fun one. Especially if I can
collaborate with some others. Clearly an updated checklist to the birds of
wenas would be a good addition as well as species accounts for say, 25 most
common Wenas birds, not to mention shrubs, trees, flowers, insects, geology
etc. Maybe some maps of good birding sites, botanizing areas, etc with lists
of spp of interest? If this sort of project, which I doubt would ever amount
to actually making any money, interests you, lets talk. Unfortunately I lost
or loaned out my copy of Larrisons little booklet and I would like to borrow
one. If you have one, I'll be with the Engle encampment at Wenas, Helen
Engle, usually is well known to most the old timers so you can ask around or
leave a note at the Larrison Tree.
