Hi Tweeters,

Still in the learning curve... This morning I spent a little more time checking out the oriole population in Medina and found 3 orioles. 2 female and one male. So never mind about the multiple nest question...

The nest in the fir tree is very appropriately adorned. It turns out the blue plastic is ribbon and gazing at the nest from the back about 3 strands stream from the nest, giving it the appearance of a greenish balloon that floated up into the tree with blue ribbon still attached.

Now to the GREAT BLUE HERON's. As of this morning two nests have hatchlings that I could detect. The biggest nest on the bottom and the next one above it. The 2 nestlings in the above nest are already pretty strong and were duking it out so young with their bills this morning after a parent arrived with food. A book I have on GBH written by a scientist in British Columbia says siblicide is not uncommon.
