Greetings,

It's still pretty quiet along the shores right now. Here are a few
highlights from quick visits to the ocean over the past few days.

Double-crested Cormorant - the colony on Great Chain Island is barely
hanging in. The maximum birds I've seen there this spring was 33. One day,
there were two Bald Eagles perched atop the highest nests, with no
cormorants to be seen.

Harlequin Duck - just a few - 2 at Clover Point May 20

Whimbrel - still at least seven on the Victoria Golf Course (Oak Bay) May 21

Marbled Godwit - one with the Whimbrels May 21

Rhinoceros Auklet - very scarce - a few off Clover Point and Cattle Point,
one in close off Turkey Head

Yellow-rumped Warbler - a couple of surprisingly late migrants at the
Victoria Golf Course May 21
