Hi Tweeters,

Since we have a three-day weekend coming up and many of us will be out
birding, I thought I would remind everyone of the Birdbox. The reason for
having the Birdbox is for people to quickly report rare bird sightings and
for others to hear the report, make immediate changes in their route and go
find the bird.

It doesn't help anyone when someone sees a rare bird, gets home two days
later and sends an e-mail about it to Tweeters. The last thing I want to
read about Monday afternoon is a report of a wonderful bird being within
driving distance of Yakima but there not having enough time to go see it.

For those who don't have the number: (206) 281-9172. I will admit the
Birdbox is not the most user friendly service. In fact, it feels like it
was designed to be rather difficult to use intentionally. Please, persevere
and let us all know about your sightings. With nearly everyone having cell
phones and most of the state covered with cell service, there is no reason
not to call.

It is important to write down the directions to the bird so that you can
read them when leaving a message. We don't want a lot of people getting
lost out there in the wilderness.

Have a great time birding this weekend (and keep an eye out for the
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher).
