Flickers are indeed city and rural dwellers. And, they do a lot of their foraging on the ground, so its not unusual for you to see one there. There's nothing wrong with asking.

(Winged Migration opens at the Egyptian in Seattle June 20, and will play on Bainbridge Island and elsewhere too.)
