RARE BIRD ALERT! for GRASSHOPPER SPARROW.

Sightings for Tuesday, May 27th

RARE BIRD ALERT! An adult GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found in the mid afternoon
at Iona Island. The bird was present on the beach in logs 100m before the
base of the South Jetty. It was watched till sunset. This is the first
sighting in Vancouver since 1979! Also from this location were 2 BANK
SWALLOWS, 1 DUNLIN, 12 WESTERN SANDPIPERS and 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS in the
Inner Ponds.

Along Ferguson Rd on Sea Island just past the Farm on the North Side of the
road were 2 WESTERN KINGBIRDS.

At Blackie Spit was an adult WESTERN GULL.

Sightings for Monday, May 26th

RARE BIRD ALERT! An OVENBIRD was heard singing near Cecil Green Park at UBC
in Vancouver. To find the area park at the Anthropology Museum and walk
towards the Totem Poles. At the bluff is trail #4 that heads down to the
beach.
The bird was in the trees here in the mid morning. Efforts later in the day
failed
to relocate this bird.

A WESTERN KINGBIRD was again present along Ferguson Rd on the Airport Fence
on Sea Island.

An EASTERN KINGBIRD was reported at the 1st bend of Rannie Rd in Pitt
Meadows.
