Subject: tent caterpillars and birds
Date: May 28 09:15:39 2003
From: Rob Sandelin - floriferous at msn.com

I watched a juv. Robin try out a tent caterpillar. It was kind of inept at
it, and at one point the Robin jumped in the air, as if startled by
something the caterpillar did. It pecked away from different angles and
apparently decided it did not like these fuzzy things as it left the mangled
carcass behind and went to wash out its mouth with some Salmonberries.
