I've noticed that dandelion seeds are a major food item for the house
sparrows, house finches, and song sparrows in my yard. An intact dandelion
fluff ball never lasts long. The birds will process many seeds at once,
rapidly dehulling (I assume) the seeds with a mouthfull of fluff sticking
out of their beaks.
