Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

Birders in southeastern Oregon during the week-end found large numbers of
WILSON?S WARBLERS and WESTERN TANAGERS plus a number of rare birds. At
Malheur Headquarters a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, OVENBIRD, COMMON GRACKLE,
TENNESSEE WARBLER, and BLUE-HEADED VIREO. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER and
RED-EYED VIREO were at Fields. A BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, BLUE
GROSBEAK, and PLUMBEOUS VIREO were at Colony Creek south of Fields. Another
PLUMBEOUS VIREO was at Idlewild Campground north of Burns. A female
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was reported from Alkali Lake near Wagontire May
23. A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Burns Junction south of Burns May 25.

A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was south of Turner May 21 but did not remain. A
WHITE PELICAN is now at Yaquina Bay. An ARCTIC TERN was at Boiler Bay May
26. On May 24 a BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD was at Fort Stevens State Park.

A REDSTART was near Washougal May 21. On May 27 a BLACK TERN was at Oaks
Bottom in southeast Portland. The CLARK?S GREBE is still being seen at the
Fernhill wetlands in forest Grove. The BANK SWALLOW colony along the
Clackamas River near Carver is active again this summer. On May 24 a pair of
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were reported southeast of Oregon City. TRICOLORED
BLACKBIRDS were reported during the week at Ankeny NWR. A GRASSHOPPER
SPARROW was found May 25 on the south side of Ward Butte north of
Brownsville. Several WHITE-FACED IBIS are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
On May 25 ten BLACK SWIFTS were at Salt Creek Falls in the Cascades along
Hwy 58 southeast of Eugene.

YELLOW RAILS are now very active at the Klamath Forest NWR. The first
NIGHTHAWKS were reported from southeast Oregon on May 22.
