My daughter is 2 1/2 years old, and she has been
watching birds in our yard for awhile already. She
always has wanted to see what dad is watching out the
windows. She is at the age now where she is putting
words and concepts together. This last weekend, we
were inside the house, with the windows open. We
heard a bird call outside, and she correctly
identified the bird as a Stellar's Jay ("Jay") and
asked me to pick her up so she could see it out the
kitchen window! She is also learning all the common
birds around the house.
I can't wait until she can go around with me on a
serious birding trip! I suppose I better start
showing her how to use binoculars!!
