Wednesday, May 21, 2003, 5:55 p.m. John O'Connell 299-4375. At noon
today, next to Fryelands Boulevard in Monroe at Lake Tye, on the track
paralleling its western border, birds of note included one OSPREY, two
KINGBIRDS at the nesting site, which they have occupied for the last two
years, specifically in this case, utility pole 4699, and an unusually,
single VESPER SPARROW. Thank you.

Wednesday, May 21, 2003, 9:15 p.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa. I'm
reporting a trip down to the Ridgefield / Vancouver, Washington area.
There was a lot of eastside stuff around today where there were BLACK
TERNS back on the River S Unit. Also three GREAT EGRETS and two DUNLIN
in breeding plumage there. Down on Lower River Road, in Vancouver,
there were three WESTERN KINGBIRDS, and four REDHEADS, two pairs that
were males were displaying for the females. Also, two male LAZULI
BUNTINGS on the road down beyond Vancouver Lake.

Thursday, May 22, 2003, 12:20 p.m. Hello, this is Mike Wyle of Redmond
(425) 503-5766. Michael Mann and I had a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER this
morning in Carnation. It was on, or off of Carnation Farms Road. As
you head towards the intersection of 203, you cross the Snoqualmie River
Bridge. There is a dirt road immediately on your left. Right down
there, a tenth or two-tenths of a mile, and park, and the bird was in
the trees right along the river. Once again, a male BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER in Carnation. Thank you and good birding.

Saturday, May 24, 2003, 7:01 p.m. Hello, this is Michael Flemming (206)
297-3234. This is Saturday, May the 24th. Did some birding today at
the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and the highlights were PURPLE MARTINS, a
WHIMBREL, and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE. Thank you very much. Good luck and
good birding.

Sunday, May 25, 2003, 7:13 p.m. This is Michael Flemming (206)
297-3234. Today, Sunday the 25th, birded Discovery Park and highlights
included a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, OSPREY, BARRED OWL, CASPIAN TERN, and
MOURNING DOVE. Good luck and good birding.

Monday, May 26, 2003, 8:59 a.m. Hi, this Tom Aversa. I would like to
let you folks know to call the BirdBox if anyone sees a GYR FALCON. The
GYR FALCON at the zoo, a nine-year old female, flew off during a show on
Saturday. We think she may have left the immediate North Seattle area.
If anybody sees this bird, please call us here at the zoo at either
(206) 684-4013 or 684-4836. Thank you.

Thursday, May 29, 2003, 10:41 a.m. Hi, this is Greg Toffic from
Woodland Park Zoo, and I'm happy to report that this morning the GYR
FALCON, which has been missing from the zoo since last Saturday when she
flew off from one our, during one our demonstration programs, was
recovered. We had some, quite a bit of press, last night news reports,
and had many, many phone calls and we checked out a couple of the more
promising ones, and the bird was recovered in Maple Valley, and is, as I
speak, on the way back to the zoo. So thank you very much for keeping
your eyes open, and all is well that ends well. Thanks.

Thursday, May 29, 2003, 12:13 p.m. Hi, this is Ann Kalagian, calling
from Alki Point, West Seattle. There has been a WESTERN SCRUBJAY in my
backyard all morning, so I was reporting it. It's (206) 938-4899,
that's my phone number. OK. Bye.
