I totally agree with you. I was feeling depressed and sorry for myself the
other day. And I know the best thing to solve that is to get into nature, even
in the city.

I went to the Meadowbrook Pond, scummy as it is, and watched 3 beavers. An
older retired man talked to me and said he and his wife go to the pond at least
twice a day. He said it is good for them. I shared my binoculars with folks.
The man and his wife said they saw eight beavers in the pond the day before.
There was a flower he couldn't identify, so he said a horticulturalist (I think
from Nathan Hale) came down and identified it for them. People talked about
seeing a river otter at other times, and fish. I was smiling by the time I left,
after talking with all these people, young and old, observing nature.

I went on to the fill, and saw a bald eagle, muskrat, and heard and saw a
variety of birds and ducks.

I went home very happy to be alive. And that's usually how it is when I spend
the time observing nature, getting in rhythm with it, even in the city.
