Tweets,

Reading online can be difficult. Here's a couple of suggestions that many
of you already use :

1) Instead of indenting each paragraph leave an empty line *between* your
paragraphs and also before your signature block. This makes your messages
much easier to read.

2) Use all caps for bird names within your paragraphs as many people skim
messages looking for specific birds, for instance SCRUB JAY.

Also, here's some help in setting your mailer to "plain text."

Some mailers allow you to specify "plain text" for certain email
addresses. If you have this capability be sure to list both
tweeters at u.washington.edu and listproc at u.washington.edu

===========
Directions for changing Outlook Express to "plain text."
If you don't use Outlook Express, the general
layout and access to text format commands should be similar
for other email programs.

"Plain Text" is preferable for listservers not only because
it is compatible with more types of computers, it also uses
less memory and takes less time to send or receive messages.

1. Click on TOOLS in the upper screen menu of your mail
program.

2. You'l see a pull-down menu, at the bottom, click OPTIONS

3. The OPTIONS folder will pop up, click on the SEND
folder.

4. At the bottom of the SEND selections, you'll see two
boxes for selecting either "plain text" or HTML. Click
PLAIN TEXT

5. You can also adjust the PLAIN TEXT SETTINGS from this
location by clicking on that bar at the lower right of the screen.

In Outlook Express for Macintosh (5.01), in the Edit menu, select
Preferences. Click on Compose. There are two alternatives, HTML and Plain
Text.

Hope this helps,
