I spent the day walking around the Scatter Creek Wildlife Area at 180th
Ave and Guava Rd. The main hi-lite was a pair of Western Bluebirds
actively feeding and then flying up to a nest site in the top of the
tall decidious tree next to the biologists house. I was able to
photograph the blue birds at close range as they sat on the fence and
other near by perches.
Other birds seen and heard were;
Western Wood Pewee
Pacific Slope flycatcher
Willow Flycatcher
Wilson's Warbler
Orange Crowned Warbler
Mourning Dove
Scrub Jay
Hutton's Vireo
Warbling Vireo
Chipping Sparrow
Black Headed Grosbeak

I also chased a few butterflies finding;
Western Tiger Swallowtail
Anise Swallowtail
Cabbage White
Silvery Blue
Ochre Ringlet
Western Meadow Fritilary
Mylitta Crescent
Western Branded Skipper

And finally 4 species of dragonflies were seen;
Variegated Meadowhawk (photographed for ID)
California Darner (photographed for ID)
blue darner species (they never rest)
1 unknown (photographed but can not find any dragonfly that resembles it
in Dennis Paulson's book or scans. Best guess would be Black Meadowhawk)
