Hi, Tweets
I seemed to have acquired a new yard bird in the form of a handsome
Cooper's hawk. When the yard is quiet, I assume it's because a couple
neighboring cats have come to check out the feeders, but evidently the cats
have competition. What's funny is that when I see the hawk, it is sitting
on the edge of a blue plastic wading tub with its tail in the water! The
tub is left over from my old goose who died a couple years ago; visiting
mallards that can negotiate the heavily-forested area visit most days and
still use the pool. Why the hawk has chosen that perch is past me. When I
last looked, a squirrel was feeding nearby and the small birds were in
evidence at the tray feeder. I will admit that the hawk looks like some
sort of decorative yard furniture (the tub is under a huge cedar). So far
the jays haven't discovered it this morning. It is a healthy looking bird
so I suppose it is just biding its time til lunch!
Cheers, Diann
