On Fri., Oct. 31st a friend and I were out birding and saw one Sandhill
Crane walking on a frozen pond! It is the small pond at the intersection of
Rd. 6 and N, near St. Andrews. (DeLorme p. 85, C5). Nearby Stafford Lake
was open, and at least 25 swans were there. Never saw an iceskating
Sandhill Crane before.
The four Snow Geese were at a pond near Barker Canyon and Hwy. 174
(DeLorme p. 85, 7A). Not the pond right at that intersection, but about
one mile north on Barker Canyon Rd, but its name changes when it goes north
and I can't remember it. Meredith
