The beginning of the Christmas Bird Count season is
a scant 6 weeks away. Don Albright has already compiled
most of the Oregon counts and Washington CBC dates are
beginning to come in.

I will once again have the combined counts at my site
available at:
http://home.pacifier.com/~mpatters/bird/bird.html

Oregon information will also be available through:
http://www.oregonbirds.org/
And Washington information at:
http://www.wos.org/

You will notice that December 14 (Sunday) and December 21
(Saturday) are really crowded this year. For some reason
everyone likes to get their count out of the way.

As I have suggested in the past, since many of you all will
have your local count out of the way, please consider doing
a second or third count later in the season. Counts at
mid-week and counts away from major metropolitan areas (or
attractive birding spots) would especially benefit from
extra help.

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.
