Hi Tweets:
Last night's Washington Ornithological Society's (WOS) monthly meeting
was very-well attended. I counted 62 people. Scott Downes presented
a program about a Sage Thrasher study over in the Old Vantage Road
area east of Ellensburg. It was a good, easy-to-understand
presentation.
And Hal Opperman was there to sign a bunch of copies of the new ABA
birdfinding guide, A BIRDER'S GUIDE TO WASHINGTON.
I opened my new copy to the Old Vantage Highway. Wow! There is a
great map of the whole Vantage area including the birder-famous
Huntzinger Road down along the Columbia. Farther south, down near the
Columbia River in the Klickitat area west of Goldendale, there are
excellent maps and explanations of Rock Creek. Trout Lake near Mt
Adams is finally explained well too. Very nice. Now maybe I won't
get lost over there any more.
The book is in the tradition of Lane Guides. It's thick. It weighs 2
pounds. It stays in the car and contains the driving directions, and
birding possibilities. You won't want to carry it in the field. It's
would be a great Christmas gift!
I picked up some LOST AND FOUND at the meeting. A man's winter
jacket, and on another chair, someone's birding notes and pen. Tell
me if they are yours.
See you out there everyone. Maybe chasing birds at Hoquiam Sewer
Ponds and Tokeland?
Yours, Carol Schulz
