Hi Jo,

Because it would conflict with BANS (Bank Swallow). The usual rule of
thumb when a two birds would end up with the same alpha code is not to
give either bird the obvious code such as BASW. By doing this you can
cut down on keying errors when entering data into a database. In other
words it forces the user to be deliberate with the code used. Other
examples of this is NSHR (Northern Shrike) and NSHO (Northern Shoveler)
and BDOW (Barred Owl) and BNOW (Barn Owl).
