One final thought looking only at bare parts...

I did just look at a couple other photos very quickly.
The bare parts on the pink-footed goose photo that I
linked to from Denny's link is rather dull. Look at
this photo:

That has a Pink-footed in a field of white-fronted.
You can see the difference in the leg color there.
Then compare that with the photo in the first link
below where the white-fronted is on the left. They
look a lot more similar to me in that photo than the
one above, but I'll let you make of it what you will.
