I suppose I'm the first birder who was at the coast today to get home and
log on the computer, so I'll be the first to report that the Bean Goose,
Hudsonian Godwit, and Tropical Kingbird were all present today.

Vicki King and I saw the geese this morning at the western end of the
airfield.

The godwit wasn't immediately obvious in the godwit flock roosting on the
wooden dock when we arrived at Tokeland. Vicki and I went looking for the
kingbird, and when we came back the godwit had been located after the flock
had taken off and landed again. It surely was present earlier, but its
smaller size kept it hidden in the flock. In addition, it's a juvenile
molting into first winter, so it's back and wing coverts aren't as uniform
gray as is illustrated for the adult nonbreeding in the Sibley guide; it
didn't stand out as much as I thought it would when viewed from above. Of
course it's underparts are much paler than the Marbleds, only this wasn't
immediately obvious as its front was being obscured by the associated
Marbleds.

The kingbird was FINALLY located behind the store at the Tokeland boat
launch.

Thanks to all the other birders present today who provided great company as
well as helped with viewing the birds--Bill, Tom, Mike, Merry Lynn, Rachel,
Ian, Mark, Ted, Mary and Kathy!
