Hudsonian Godwit (Lifer!)
The Hudsonian was BURIED in the mass of Marbled at the
Tokeland Marina, and only occasionally peeked out. We
were treated to a 2 hour strip-tease/peep show as the
other Godwit's slowly moved off the docks and we saw
more features of the Hudsonian. first an Eye strip,
then a short bill, then a gray breast, then black
legs, then black wing feathers, then the black tail.
Everyone left after he flew (at 4:00!) and we saw the
plumage patterns on the wings. BEAUTIFUl black
patterns on wings and tail as he flew. Definitely
worth the 2 hour wait to watch!!
Thanks again for all the posts and directions!
