My wife and I finally got away for a day of birding around the local area.
It was a grand day and we enjoyed the moderating temperatures as did the
birds. Many of the common suspects were observed, as well as some that we do
not often observe. The following highlights were noted during the day.

Potholes State Park:

Cooper's Hawk - 1
Northern Shrike - 1
Winter Wren - 1
Bewick's Wren - 1

Blythe WDFW Public Access:

Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1

Moses Lake Spillway:

Western Grebe - 4 lingering
Horned Grebe - 1

Montlake Park (Moses Lake):

Bald Eagle - 1 First this year
Tundra Swan - 25
TRUMPETER SWAN - 1 associating with the Tundra Swans
Hooded Merganser - 6, 3 males displaying and 3 females ignoring them
Bonaparte's Gull - 4

Penn Plaza Audubon Kiosk:

WESTERN GULL - 1

A really nice day of birding with fine weather.
