Hi Tweets...After attending a meeting in Westport, I decided to check out a
possible new location of the Pink-footed geese. On my way into work Saturday
I had seen what I was pretty sure were the two in among a small flock of
about 15 mixed sub-species of Canada's along the Port Industrial Rd in
Aberdeen. At 4:15 pm I verified they were indeed the "missing" Pink-footed
geese. I headed over to Bowerman to see if there was anyone still around at
that late hour, intending to spread the word but ran into Sue Varland and
dragged her back to see the geese...she was most gracious about it and had,
in fact, searched several places herself trying to spot them. We watched
until it was too dark to see then left, pleased we had found them. They may
use this area when the weekend airport use is heavy.

To reach this location from the east, entering Aberdeen on Hwy 101, stay in
the middle lane and instead of following the hwy when it makes the right
turn just west of the Red Lion Inn, go straight (on Wishkah) past Pizza Hut.
About 5 blocks west the road angles right and that is Port Industrial Rd.
About 1/2 mile there is a Pacific Pride gas station on the right at the
corner of Commerce. That field is where the geese can often be found. There
is another building under construction in the back of the field...they were
way back there today. I made a right on Commerce then another right onto the
road behind the new building, Masco (?) Petroleum Co.

>From Bowerman, head back into Hoquiam, but after crossing the Hoquiam River
Bridge, make a right at the first street and follow it around past the Grays
Harbor Paper Co. That is Bay Ave which becomes Port Industrial Rd. Proceed
to Commerce on your left...Pacific Pride Gas Station on the corner.

Good luck
