Subject: Ridgefield owls and others

I went to Ridgefield on Saturday and Sunday. Best find for me were
short-eared owls on both days. Saw a male perched on a sign by the road
near Rest Lake early Saturday morning, it later flew down out of sight
presumably to roost for the day. On Sunday afternoon around 4 pm saw a
female harrassing a harrier into dropping its prey high over Rest Lake,
then had the male fly up from the slough by Rest Lake and perch on the
ground for about 10 minutes before flying off.

I have seen Short-eared owls now at Ridgefield on 6 occasions this year:


3 times in January, 1 in May, and twice in November.
