Hey Tweets, finally a bird I can chase! This morning (Nov. 10) the two
ROSS'S GEESE were present with the thousands of "cacklers" at the Nisqually
NWR Twin Barns area. They were refound this morning around 8:00 AM by Steve
Nord and again seen by the two of us at about 10-11 AM. There is one clean
adult bird and one juvenile with some dusky markings on the face/crown and
back. They were first seen from the boardwalk near the green metal gate out
in the mowed fields north of the barns. As we were leaving, the flock was
spooked and resettled in the ponds west of the barns, still really easy to
pick out the two white birds in amongst the darker cacklers (two 'cackling'
Canadas had yellow neck bands).

Also we found 3 W/FRONTED GEESE (1ad., 2 juv.) just west of the barns in the
taller grass. Heard a Yellow-rumped Warbler along the boardwalk trail.
Also a couple Eagles out over McAllister Creek and as many as three N.
Harriers drifting about. 3-4 Red-tailed Hawks were about, one gorgeous dark
adult that looked much like Sibley's bird on pg. 122. There was also a
report of a R/Legged Hawk on the refuge lately, though we didn't see it this
morning in our limited run.

Also yesterday's BHAS trip to Capitol Lake in Olympia yielded two male
REDHEAD (north end) and an EARED GREBE (north and then south end-near
railroad tracks).
