Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday November 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A female RUSTY BLACKBIRD was at McNary Dam November 9. On November 4 two
BLUE JAYS were near Thornhollow east of Pendleton.

Heavy migrations continue just off the Oregon beaches, especially gulls and
FULMARS. During the week very large numbers of BONAPARTE?S and HERRING
GULLS, and a few KITTIWAKES were reported. On November 5 about 150,000
scoters were just offshore north of Yachats. SHORT-EARED OWLS are now
arriving in the Willamette Valley.

On November 11 a MOCKINGBIRD was near Brookings. Up to 20 LAPLAND LONGSPURS,
250 PIPITS, and about 8 PALM WARBLERS are now on the North Spit of Coos Bay..
A SNOWY EGRET was near the Toledo airport November 9. On November 8 two ROCK
SANDPIPERS were near the aquarium store in Depoe Bay. On November 11 a
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was at Warrenton. A flock of over 40 SNOW BUNTINGS were
along Clatsop Beach November 12.

Over 300 SNOW GEESE are now on Sauvie Island. On November 9 a ROSS?S GOOSE
was at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. It has since been seen in the
farmlands to the east. On November 5 a SAW-WHET OWL was along the trail in
the Smith/Bybee Lakes Wildlife Area in North Portland. A BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON was in Willamina November 12. Individual and small groups of
SANDHILL CRANES were reported during the week from the mid-Willamette
Valley. A late PECTORAL SANDPIPER was at Finley NWR November 9. A
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER is still being seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On November 9 three PACIFIC LOONS were at the John Day Dam. One was at
McNary Dam November 10. A BOHEMIAN WAXWING was at McNary Dam November 8. The
next day a LONG-TAILED DUCK, a GLAUCOUS GULL, and a female BLACK SCOTER were
there. On November 9 two WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were at the Redmond Sewage
Ponds. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Hatfield Lake near Bend November 6, and a
SWAMP SPARROW was there November 9. A HARLAN?S RED-TAILED HAWK was near Vale
November 5.
