Hello All,
Today we participated in a Blue Mountain Audubon Fieldtrip into the Foothills of the Blue Mountains. This Fieldtrip was led by Tom Scribner and was dubbed the" The Thanksgiving Turkey Trot" as the main purpose of this adventure was to see Wild Turkeys. The following species were observed by 14 birders.
Wild TURKEY...........300+ massive population explosion! too many birds? What affect on NATIVE GROUSE? located along Coppei Cr. and along the Wolf Fk. of the Touchet River.
California Quail..........210
Ring-necked Pheasent...1
Mallard..........40+
Am.Dipper.......1 along the Wolf FK. of the Touchet River, Columbia Co.
Northern Shrike.......3 sub. adults
Great Horned Owl....2 along Scenic Loop Dr., Walla Walla Co.
Western Screech Owl....1 adult at roost in a Black Cottonwood along the Wolf Fk. of the Touchet River, Columbia Co.
Rough-legged Hawk.......2
Red-tailed Hawk.............16+
Sharp-shinned Hawk.......1
Stellers Jay....................2
Dark-eyed Junco.............300+
