Sightings for November 23

In Vernon, the ad. ICELAND GULL continues at the mouth of Vernon Ck in the
Okanagan Landing area (CC).

Also in Vernon, a lone imm. SANDHILL CRANE continues in the field on the N.
side of Hwy 97 at the N. end of Swan Lake (CC).

Nine GRAY PARTRIDGE and 30 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were in the Desert Cove
community near the Head of the Lake, in Vernon (CC).

Ad. NORTHERN SHRIKES were noted along Commonage Road, near Vernon, at
Predator Ridge Golf Course and along Highland Rd at the N. end of Swan Lake,
also in Vernon (CC).

ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were along Bailey Road, on the Vernon Commonage, near
Bailey Pond, and along Old Vernon Road near the Kelowna Airport (CC).

An adult GOLDEN EAGLE and a second year BALD EAGLE were startled along the
E. shore of Rose's Pond, on the Vernon Commonage, as they fed on a deer
carcass (CC).

A hike through the tree farm on Bench Row Rd, on the Vernon Commonage,
produced a BARRED OWL (CC).

In Kelowna, an imm. GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was with CANADA GEESE,
feeding in fields along Cornish Road (CC).


Sightings for November 15

A SNOW GOOSE was seen in fields on the S. side of Mission Ck along Spiers
Road in Kelowna (DA).

At Rotary Marshes in downtown Kelowna, an EARED GREBE was with HORNED GREBES
(CC).

At the Kelowna Landfill large numbers of CALIFORNIA, RING-BILLED, HERRING
and GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS were seen along with 5 ad. THAYER'S GULLS (CC).

A late RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was with BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES in the willows,
just W. of Munson's Pond, in Kelowna (CC).

In Vernon, a SANDHILL CRANE was in fields on the N. side of Hwy 97, at the
N. end of Swan Lake (BC).


Sightings for November 11

In Kelowna, a PACIFIC LOON and an EARED GREBE were at the yacht club, which
can be viewed from the pay parking lot at the foot of Queensway Ave (CC,DW).

An adult MEW GULL was in Mud Bay, at the foot of Francis Ave in Kelowna
(CC,DW).

Along the Salmon Arm Foreshore was a SWAMP SPARROW, a SNOW BUNTING and a
DUNLIN (DC).

At the S. end of Swan Lake in Vernon, 2 female RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were
with large numbers of COMMON MERGANSERS and a late LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER was
at Kin Beach in Okanagan Landing (DC).
