Yesterday evening, my husband and his friend David were returning from a
fishing trip when they saw a hawk either get hit or get caught in the
slipstream of a truck on the highway. They circled back and picked up the
hawk, which was flopping helplessly in the road. It was groggy, but soon
perked up and made the trip back to Seattle in a box. (From the peek I
took, it looked like an immature Cooper's Hawk.) After some difficulty,
due to the late hour on a Sunday, they managed to get through to PAWS
in Lynnwood, and David dropped the bird off there. This morning, the
person at PAWS called him to say that the bird seems fine, and, after a
trial flight and a vision test, it would be released. My question is, what
kind of vision test does one give a raptor, and how?
