Came home from an afternoon of birding and checked my feeding area out
kitchen window. Lots of the usual birds present:: Juncos, Goldfinches, H.
Finches, Song Sparrows, Quail, etc.. Two small boys were trying to chase a
stray rabbit that hopped into the yard, when I looked up into one of the
trees and found a Barred Owl staring at me. Only 3rd one I've ever
seen;first I've seen in Douglas County and a new yard bird for
me!!! Before it was too dark to be seen a total of 10 people had seen
it, and some photographed it. What a find! Meredith (Bridgeport, Wash.)
