Hi tweets,
On Thanksgiving morning we welcomed the sight of a Hermit Thrush in our backyard nature sanctuary.
We live about a mile and a half south of the Seattle Audubon Nature Shop. Reddish-brown rump and tail and thin eye-rings were the field marks we noticed. This is the third sighting of a HETH in the ten years since we tore out the turf and planted Oregon Grape, Sword Fern, Kinnickinnick and other native plants.
Six weeks ago we had a Fox Sparrow, a first for our yard. Life is simpler and richer since we went native and quit raking the leaves.
Good Birding, Alan and Wendy Roedell
