This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Saturday, November 29, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited,
with stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

The featured birds are: MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, COMMON REDPOLL, GYRFALCON,
WESTERN SCRUB JAY and BLUE JAY.

Sightings for Saturday, November 29:

The female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was again seen at the foot of 64th
Street in Delta. Also in Delta, a GYRFALCON was at the foot of 112th Street.

60 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen in over flight in the Newton area of
South Surrey, at the 13,700 block of 67th Avenue.

Reifel had 3 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS and 2 very late WESTERN TANAGERS.
The WESTERN SCRUB JAY could still be seen at its usual location along
River Road in Ladner, and the BLUE JAY was at the 800 block of West
19th Street in North Vancouver.

A PILEATED WOODPECKER was at a feeder at 8007 Government Road in
Burnaby, which is close to Burnaby Lake Park.

Thursday, November 27th

The BLUE JAY was again reported from 850 W. 19th Street in North
Vancouver.

Wednesday, November 26th

A female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was discovered feeding on the foreshore
habitat off 64th Street in Boundary Bay. Nearby off 72nd Street 2
MERLINS, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON and 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were reported.

The 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS continue to be found 100m up from the train
crossing at the mouth of the Serpentine River.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was reported along Delta Port Way.

Along the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty was the WILLET and 2 MARBLED
GODWITS.
