Greetings,

Just had a good day birding northern Douglas County.

>From Wenatchee I headed out on US 2 up and across the Waterville Plateau to
Farmer [US 2 and WA 172]. Then on WA 172 to Mansfield then to Sims Corner,
then north on WA 17 to WA 174, then east on 174 to Barker Cyn. Returned to
Wenatchee the same route with a side trip to Bennett Lake and the north end
of Jameson Lake, accessed by heading south from Mansfield. Sorry, no Delorme
references. I just moved to a new apartment so Delorme is packed away
somewhere.

Northern Goshawk...one very active immature in Barker Cyn about 2 miles from
WA 174.

Common Redpoll...four were with about 15 American Goldfinches in Barker Cyn
about 3.1 miles from WA 174. The redpolls were eating Water Birch seed and
then eating dirt along the shoulder of the road. This is my third sighting
of CORE for Douglas County this fall. All three sightings are of just 1-4
birds.

Gyrfalcon...one adult gray morph sitting on a rock north of WA 172 at
MP33.8, just west of Sims Corner. Randy Hill had this bird here on 21 Nov.

Prairie Falcon...one on a pole about .6 mile south of Mansfield on the way
to Jameson Lake.

Golden Eagle...a pair sitting on a power pole above Bennett Lake.

Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch...two were flying by the cliffs above Bennett Lake.

Short-eared owl...one flying along US 2 just west of Farmer in the evening.

Great Horned Owl...one on a pole along US 2 at its usual spot between
Douglas and Waterville.
