This is the Okanagan Valley (BC) Rare Bird Alert (250-491-7738).
Sightings for Thursday, October 1 - midnight update.
The Featured Birds Include:
PACIFIC LOON (Kelowna)
GREAT EGRET (Kelowna)
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW (Kelowna)

Sightings for October 1
An imm. WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was found at Munson's Pond in Kelowna (CC).
The bird was being watched by an imm. SHARP-SHINNED HAWK in the bushes near
the trailer at the NW. corner of the pond.
Discovered on the 30th of September, and seen again October 1, was an adult
PACIFIC LOON at Rotary Beach, on Lakeshore Road, in Kelowna (CC).
The GREAT EGRET continues in Mud Bay, at the foot of Francis Ave, in
downtown Kelowna (CC,DB).
Sightings for September 29
>From the foot of Cedar Ave, in Kelowna, the GREAT EGRET was again seen
foraging along the shoreline (CC). The bird has been frequenting Mud Bay, at
the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary, but appears to make small forays elsewhere
to feed.
An imm. WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was seen at Sutherland Park, in the N. end
Kelowna (HV) and three adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at Munson's
Pond in Kelowna (CC).
Sightings for September 28
The GREAT EGRET continues in Mud Bay at the foot of Francis Ave in downtown
Kelowna (JL). Also in Mud Bay were 22 BONAPARTE'S GULLS (JL).
In Salmon Arm, 2 juv. GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen with numerous
CANADA GEESE from the pier area (DC).
The first ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK of the fall was seen soaring over the Mackay's
Reservoir on the Vernon Commonage (CC,CE). Also here was an adult GOLDEN
EAGLE (CC,CE).
A rather late CINNAMON TEAL was on a small farm pond just W. of Rose's Pond
on the Vernon Commonage (CC,CE).
