On 10/02/03 while on Lady Island in the Columbia River just
offshore of Camas, Clark County, WA I saw one female SURF SCOTER in the
Columbia River. This would be just downstream of the mouth of the Sandy
River in Oregon. There were seven TURKEY VULTURES on the sandbar at the
mouth of the Sandy River and a PEREGRINE FALCON was using the power poles
in the Columbia River there for a perch/hunting platform. Lady Island is
wholly owned by the Georgia-Pacific Corporation and there is no public
access to the island so these birds would be better viewed from the
Oregon side of the Columbia River.
