This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Thursday, October 2nd, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for October 2nd

At Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver was a NORTHERN
SHRIKE.

At Hastings and Boundary in Vancouver was a PEREGRINE FALCON.

Sightings for October 1st

At the Reifel Bird Sanctuary, near the tower, was a flycatcher thought
to be a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER. Look for a yellow-green Empid. Also
at Reifel were 5 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS and 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE.

At Beach Grove were a GREAT HORNED OWL and a WESTERN TANAGER. Nearby,
west of 104th Street, Boundary Bay were 2 STILT SANDPIPERS.

Sightings for September 30th

At Reifel were 4 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS, 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE and a GREAT HORNED OWL.

Out of town, the CRESTED AUKLET was seen again at Pedder Bay, on
Vancouver Island west of Victoria.

In Active Pass were 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS and 1 POMARINE JAEGER.
