Sunday (10/05/03) I birded in Skagit County.

I parked at the West 90 and walked the canal to the dike. At the dike I
saw:

Caspian Tern - 2: 1 adult & 1 juv
Osprey - 1
Golden-crowned Sparrow - 1 juv with white outer tail feathers; Junco
cross??
Great Horned Owl - 1
White Gull - Seen from the dike, while the bird was swimming. Size and
shape of Glaucous-winged Gull. All white except for a bit of gray smudging
on head and body. Dark gray wing tips. Yellow bill with red spot. When
seen swimming away, legs appeared pink. Dark eyes.
When last seen, this bird was swimming north toward the road to Samish
Island.

It was a good day.
