Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On October 6 a RED-THROATED PIPIT was seen and videotaped on the dry lakebed
of Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend. Five CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS and one
LAPLAND LONGSPUR are also there. They are still being seen. A
CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR was at the Necanicum River mouth at Gearhart
October 5.

Two possible BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS were reported October 4 at the Ogden
Wayside north of Redmond. A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER is being seen near
Burns. A TENNESSEE WARBLER was at the Redmond Sewage Ponds October 2.

A dark phased SWAINSON?S HAWK was at Lone Ranch State Park north of
Brookings October 4. That day a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was on Whisky Run Beach
north of Bandon. Two PALM WARBLERS were at North Bend October 7. One was at
Yaquina Bay October 5. Two ANCIENT MURRELETS were off the jetties there
October 4. Many landbirds landed on offshore fishing boats during the week
including a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH off Garibaldi October 3. On October 5 a
TROPICAL KINGBIRD was along Highway 101 at Camp Rilea. On October 2 two
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS and a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE were at the South Jetty
of the Columbia River. Ten SNOWY PLOVERS were reported from there October 6..

On October 2 a SURF SCOTER was on the Columbia River off Camas. On October 7
a MARBLED GODWIT and an EURASIAN WIGEON were found at Oaks Bottoms in
Portland. A SURF SCOTER and two HORNED GREBES were at the Fernhill wetlands
October 4. That day an AVOCET was found at Finley NWR. On October 8 a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was near Grants Pass.

On October 8 two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and a CATBIRD were at Tumalo
Reservoir west of Bend. A SWAMP SPARROW was at nearby Tumalo State Park the
next day. On October 4 a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Cow Lakes near Jordan
Valley. Several WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were seen during the week at Malheur
NWR.
