The snow geese are on the move! I observed several flocks flying in
formation passing just to the west of the town of Mill Creek proper. All
were in formation and definately bound for points south. It was about 5 pm.
I have observed this type of snow goose migration over the years both
here and in Oregon. I have observed them usually in the evening or at
night. When I lived in Alsea, Oregon (west of Corvallis in the coastal
range) we would here them at night, 10 pm and later, sounding like children
laughing in the sky. The sound was heard for many minutes at a time
indicating that skeins of geese were following one another. This would go
on for many nights.
Here I will likely see them for several more evenings and nights. It
is often a challenge at night to hear them with all the traffic and other
noise that goes on in the more urban areas. Likely they are bound for the
Klamath area.
