Dear Robert and Other Tweeters,

A small flock (five or more) Violet-green Swallows showed up near Lyman (Skagit County) on Sunday, October 12. They were headed (being blown?) eastwards when they passed by my place, shortly before a squall moved through. These were the first I had seen since several hundred moved through here on September 19th and 20th.

Good birding to one and all,

Gary Bletsch

Tweeters,

I was surprised to see hundreds of Violet-green Swallows over Scatter Creek
valley east of Tenino on Oct. 10, especially after not seeing any here at
all since the last few days of September. I haven't seen any since the
10th.
The first part of October has been good for migrating raptors and vultures
here, as I can casually watch for birds coming along the ridge opposite my
house: a couple of Peregrine Falcons, daily accipiters, a Bald Eagle, still
a few Turkey Vultures. A N. Pygmy-Owl has been hanging around on a nearby
road. On Oct. 7 a group birding here saw Western Scrub-, Gray, and
Steller's jays from the deck.

Good birding, Bob
