The Central Coast (California) Birding Rally was a great success again, but, unfortunately, still no teams from the Northwest. This Rally is an effort by the La Purisima Audubon Society (LPAS) (Santa Barbara County) to showcase several sites along the Central Coast Birding Trail (CCBT) that winds through 4 counties along the coast.
Visit the CCBT on-line at http://lpas.westhost.com/CCBT/index.htm.

The complete bird list for the 2003 Rally (136 species in 5 hours) can be seen at:

The complete 6-year Rally bird list, over 200 species, can be seen at:

The Rally is traditionally scheduled for the first week-end in October to take advantage of the fall migration. All Rally activities are FREE, including the reception, the Rally, and the barbeque picnic (ribs and steak usually).
A fund-raising auction is held at the Rally picnic.
Also, LPAS has a program with local motels and restaurants, The Partnership for Green Tourism, that provides discounts and upgrades for visitors any time of year to northern Santa Barbara county.

Think about 2004 and an October visit to some great birding.
