Hi Tweets,
Monday, on a scouting trip to the coast, Carolyn Egan, Mary Anne Thorbeck, Phyllis Stark and I saw a Northern Fulmar (dark phase) along the road to Midway Beach about 400 meters from the surf. Apparently blown in by the storm on Saturday and Sunday, it was trying valiantly to reach the ocean. Alternately resting and running/flapping until it belly-flopped in the sand, it was within 100 meters of the surf by the time we left 45 minutes later. We saw two more in the shallows obviously not in good shape. It must have been quite a storm. We also saw several dozen loons; predominately Commons but with several Red-throated mixed in at Bottle Beach and Tokeland.

Good birding, Alan Roedell 206-522-0809
